The market will be held at the church situated on 442 Main Road, Escombe, on Saturday, August 31. Gates open from 08:00 till 15:00.

One of the fundraising committee members, Toni Nelson, said they are looking forward to the community coming to support them.

“Our church is one of the oldest churches in the area and is in need of a revamp. The money raised from this market will go towards that and the cost of operating the soup kitchen. On the day, the committee appealed for people to donate non-perishable food which will be donated to St Vincent de Paul Society, an international Catholic charity network. The society has been operating in South Africa since 1856 and is a registered non-profit and public benefit organisation.

“Besides an array of food, we have art and craft items, plants and glitter bombs from Jumpstatics, among many other things. Busy ‘B’ Entertainment will provide live music, and there will be karaoke, so we are inviting the public to come and support us and have fun,” said Nelson.

The church thanked everyone who has assisted so far in preparing for the market’s success.

“The market day is also in association with Escombe SPAR, and as the church fundraising committee, we extend our gratitude to Bruce Kirk from SPAR for always assisting us. They have also sponsored a hamper that is up for grabs,” added Nelson.
