Three learners from KZN make it to the Varsity College’s High School Quiz grand finale

The search for the smartest learner continues at the IIE's Varsity College High School quiz as the grand finale is set to be on July 6.

THE IIE’S Varsity College Westville campus’ deputy head says that their high school quiz competition is a celebration of the pursuit of knowledge, the joy of learning, and the spirit of healthy rivalry.

Happening nationally across all the IIE’s Varsity College campuses, learners across grades 9–11 were sussed out on their general knowledge questions that focus on geography, history, science and nature, sport, entertainment and current affairs.
After the completion of the second round which was held at the Westville campus recently, it was decided that three learners from Durban will be representing KwaZulu-Natal in the Grand Finale.

Sohaib Abdelmegeed from Orient Islamic School was placed third, Johara Naidoo from Ashton International College Ballito was placed second, and Mohamed Sayfullah Khan from Orient Islamic School was placed first.

Mohamed Sayfullah Khan said he was happy to have made it this far in the competition. “This is a big accomplishment, and it has been a wonderful experience so far. My heart was beating so fast, and I could not believe that I placed first at the Regional round, as well. I am very excited about the Grand Finale,” he said.

The Grand Finale will take place on July 6 at the IIE’s Varsity College Durban North where the participants’ general knowledge will be tested again. The ‘Smartest Learner’ will win R10 000 cash.
