IN the spirit of community and togetherness, the Bellair Community Police Forum (CPF) recently held a senior citizens’ appreciation lunch at Hillary Primary School.
The CPF also handed out care packs to the senior residents from Bellair, Seaview and Hillary and also provided entertainment in the form of dance and singing.
Clive Reddy, chairman of the Bellair CPF, said the event was about recognising the pillars of the community.
“This was more than a social upliftment project, and we, as the CPF, felt it was important to acknowledge our senior citizens and the contribution they’ve made to our society. There was plenty of laughter from the residents, and some remarked to me that they had not left their homes for months. I must give credit to some of the members, including Riki Devnarain, Thora Hubl and Bronwynne Batstone, for their contributions and for putting together the programme in such a short space of time.

“It was thanks to their efforts that the appreciation lunch was successful. Some of our members also used their personal vehicles to transport some of the senior citizens to the hall. We also are grateful to the sponsors of the appreciation lunch for their contributions. It was great to be able to provide that lift and show that the CPF are here to support the community,” he said.
Reddy added that the police forum also visited the Thokoza Care of The Aged home in the area.
“We also visited the Thokoza Care of the Aged home where we also provided a meal and handed out care packs to them,” he said.
