A plea to help the Govender family locate their son

Leo Govender went missing after he left home with an e-hailing service on Friday, February 9.

THE family of Leo Govender is pleading with the community to help them find their son who has been missing for more than three days.

Govender was reported missing on Saturday, February 10, after he had left his home in Cowies Hill on Friday, February 9, and that was the last time he was seen by his family.

“Leo had left with an e-hailing service which he shared the details of with us, and he reached his destination, according to the details we got. The worry started building up in the afternoon when he was not arriving at home – that’s when we started calling friends and family to find out more,” said Tilly Pillay, a family friend.

The missing person’s case was initially opened at the Pinetown SAPS where they confirmed it, and it has since been transferred to the SAPS in Durban Central.

Pillay said they have been liaising with the police and following leads which cannot be discussed in a public platform.

She said the past three days have been scary for the family.

“Leo is a good person who cares so much about his family. He is taking care of his mother as his father died two years ago. We are all worried, and we just want him back home,” she said.

Pillay further urged the public to only call when they have serious leads and not use the opportunity to be mean.

“For the past few days, we have been receiving bogus calls and leads where people have been trying to extort money out of us. We are asking for people to be considerate in these trying times,” said Pillay.

The family is putting out a reward for the person who will come with viable information. Tilly Pillay can be contacted on 079 649 6593.
