Hillcrest SAPS welcomes back former member as station commander

Hillcrest Police station commander is ready to serve Hillcrest again.

HILLCREST SAPS welcomes Colonel Lucky Njomboni as their new station commander. Not new to the Hillcrest community, Njomboni served at the station from 2007 to 2012 as Management Information Centre commander. With three decades of experience within the SAPS Organisation, he is passionate about serving the community and decreasing crime. He has worked in many divisions of the South African Police Service.

He joined the SAPS in 1992 and has been serving for the past 31 years. He started working at Ixopo SAPS at the beginning of his career where he served for 15 years in various components, such as the Community Service Centre, Crime Prevention and the Court as a court orderly.

In 2000, he was appointed as Crime Information Centre Manager as his passion was in Information and Communications Technology, and he continued working in this field until 2021. He was appointed as the acting station commander at Folweni for a few months and then again was moved to Malvern SAPS where he was appointed as acting station commander until his recent promotion. He gathered valuable experience working as a station commander and is ready to serve the Hillcrest community.

Njomboni said he is looking forward to working hand-in-hand with the community and structures within the community, such as the Community Policing Forum (CPF). “I am looking forward to building strong partnerships with residents, community-based groups and various stakeholders within Hillcrest and surrounding areas. I am ready to build a strong team of men and women in Hillcrest, from all walks of life, who will collectively work with the SAPS to strategically and practically reduce crime,” said Colonel Njomboni.
