Pinetown seniors welcome spring

The Red Point Church in Pinetown treated community seniors to an afternoon of entertainment.

IT was a blessed day at the Red Point Church in Pinetown as they hosted a Seniors’ Spring Tea to celebrate the seniors of the community. Seniors in the community gathered at the church’s hall dressed in floral outfits as they danced and enjoyed an inspirational talk.

Organiser Ailisa Lennox said last year’s spring celebration was for young ladies, and it was important for them to dedicate the day to seniors this year.
“We wanted to reach out to the seniors, of not just the church, but the community. Some are lonely and are not involved in many activities, so we thought we could offer them a relaxed afternoon with food and entertainment,” she said.

Lennox said the people who were part of the programme are also senior people, and the aim was to make it relevant for them.
“We are grateful to the young people in the church who also helped in organising the event and setting up the place. We have a group of young people who volunteer their time to the church by helping when they are needed.
“We are also grateful to the people who showed up and made this day a success,” she said.
