Friday, August 11

The AnglicanSA Choir will be leading worship through Hymns and Psalms. They will be joined by soloists including St Agnes’ worship director, Warren Morck. Friday, August 11 at 18:00 St Agnes Church, Kloof. Tickets are R150 and are in aid of the ‘lights on’ inverter fund for St Agnes Church. Tickets can be purchased at the door or through Howler.

Saturday, August 12

The Buzz Market takes place on Saturday, August 12 from 09:00 to 14:00 at 38 Pitlochry Road, Westville, next door to Garden Centre.

The Buzz Market is a local, community market that started out of necessity during the Covid-19 lockdown and is now a regular Saturday feature in the heart of Westville. Find local, unique and authentic gifts; delicious organic vegetables; funky clothing with a local flair; decadent treats, including brownies, biscotti, muffins and malva pudding; boerie rolls, Indian delights and home-crafted sauces; decor and jewellery; second-hand books and, as always, delish coffee.

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) fair will be hosted from 09:00 to 13:00 at Hey Halfway Hillcrest (opposite Busamed Hospital) on Saturday, August 12.

There will be an assortment of stalls, a children’s section with games as well as a doggie section – with games, competitions and prizes. Go through to support this good cause, raise some money for the rescues, meet some of the dogs that are up for adoption and just have a good day. Sunday, August 13

Macnut Farm in Lello Road, Assagay, is starting a Sunday Fresh Produce Market for locals to buy and sell homegrown produce in picture-perfect surroundings.

There will be Sunday lunch, drinks and a bar available. It is hoped that this will be the first of a regular weekly Sunday market. The market will be open from 11am until 2pm

There is no charge either to sell or to enter and traders are welcome. For information call 031 7652572 / 074 603 0000.

And for those who can travel further than Durban this weekend, the Hilton Arts Festival Memorial Hall also plays host to So, you Want to be a Trophy Wife?

Friday, August 11 & Saturday, August 12

So, you want to be a Trophy Wife is a one-woman show, written and performed by Cape Town-based, Sue Deipeveen, which comes to the Hilton Arts Festival on August 11 and 12.

This one-woman production saw one outing as a test run back in 2016. Since then, the piece has been refined by writer and performer under the insightful watch of director Wynne Bredenkamp.

The production was set to make its debut at the National Arts Festival in Makhanda (formerly Grahamstown) in 2020 but had to enjoy a digital debut instead. The production went on to enjoy successful runs at both The Drama Factory and 44 On Long later that year. 2022 saw the production touring successfully to Paternoster, the Umtiza Festival in East London and up to Johannesburg for a two-week run at Theatre on the Square, and ended the year with two performances at Toyota US Woordfees.

The shows take place at 19:30 on Friday, August 11 and 18:30 on Saturday, August 12.
