Police chase suspects after being caught on camera dealing with drugs

Suspects have been arrested after a bag suspected to be containing drugs was found in their possession.

A BAG containing what is suspected to be narcotics was found after two suspects were chased in Westville. Mobi-claw911 reported that they were alerted to suspicious activity in the parking lot of a shopping centre just off Church Road in Westville.

According to Mobi-claw911, MOBI-CAM911’s advanced artificial intelligence alerted their MOBI-CLAW911 control room operator to suspicious activity. The activity was picked up from a high-tech PTZ (pan, zoom and tilt) camera placed approximately 300m away.

“Our control-room operator zoomed in and monitored the activity which he identified as suspected drug dealing. He monitored what seemed to be transactions taking place and where the suspect appeared to be stashing the drugs,” they said.

The operator reported the incident to SAPS via the MC911 Cyber Control. SAPS attended, and on their arrival, a suspect attempted to run away. A foot chase ensued, and the suspect was arrested.

“The control-room operator who was monitoring the arrest contacted one of the SAPS members on the ground and guided him and his colleagues to where he suspected the drugs to be stashed. SAPS members found a bag at the spot containing suspected narcotics.

MOBI-CLAW911 has made this footage available to the investigating officer as evidence that may be used in court.
