Last tickets available for Mandela Month Mahala Tea
If you aren’t able to give 67 minutes this Mandela Month, why not assist the Robin Hood Foundation by donating pre-loved items at their Mahala Tea?
FOR those who would like to make a difference in our communities this July, the Robin Hood Foundation is hosting a Mahala Tea.
Instead of paying an entrance fee for the event, Cindy Norcott, founder and chairperson of the Robin Hood Foundation, encourages guests to donate pre-loved items. A bag of good quality, second-hand clothing, shoes, linen, accessories or various kitchen utensils will be much appreciated. These donated items will be distributed to disadvantaged communities.
Norcott says, “The Robin Hood Foundation tries to undertake various events during Mandela Month. Our Mahala Tea is an opportunity for people to make a difference by putting pre-loved items into the hands of those who will have a use for them. Our guests will have fun, enjoy a delicious tea, be able to network and will be inspired, all while making a difference with their items which they no longer need or want.”

The Mahala Tea events collect donations for the organisation’s Mahala Markets, which allow community members to ‘shop’ for free. Through the Mahala Market, the Robin Hood Foundation shares pre-loved clothing with hundreds of elderly community members, child-headed households, orphanages and crèches throughout KZN.
The Robin Hood Foundation was founded by Durban businesswoman, Norcott, in 2005 when she saw an opportunity to clothe babies with her daughter’s pre-loved items. The first distribution was to new mothers at St Mary’s Hospital, Mariannhill. Norcott and her team of volunteers were motivated to intensify their efforts, and the focus expanded outwards to care for the elderly and child-headed households. The organisation was most recently involved in flood relief in April 2022.
