Friday, July 1

KickstArt presents Little Red Rides Again, further tales of Little Red Riding Hood, which comes to the Durban Botanic Gardens Amphitheatre from July 1 to 17.

Three delightful comic actors, Bryan Hiles, Belinda Henwood and Cara Roberts, return for a hilariously rowdy re-telling of this well-loved tale. Booby-traps, pranks and pratfalls abound, as Little Red and Granny teach the Big Bad Wolf a serious lesson about bullying, and unexpectedly, learn a thing or two themselves. This original, new family show is devised by the Company, and designed and directed by Greg King.

Tickets cost R150 for adults and R120 for pensioners. Booking is through Webtickets. The show is suitable for ages 4–12.

Now Open

Johannesburg artist Mary Sibande’s latest exhibition, Let me tell you about Red, curated by Gcotyelwa Mashiqa, comes to the Durban Art Gallery which is now open to the public.

Mary Sibande’s phenomenal and memorable large-scale installations personify the colours of bruising – blue, purple and more recently red, as demonstrated through her alter-ego, Sophie, a life-size, personalised mannequin channelling Sibande and made in her likeness.

The Durban Art Gallery is located on the second floor of the City Hall, Anton Lembede Street, Central Durban. It is open from 09:00 to 15:30 during the week, and 09:00 to 12:00 on Saturdays. For more information, contact the gallery on 031 311 2264/9.
