Community supports fun run to create awareness on organ and tissue donations

 The successful fun walk/run was held by the Organ Donor Foundation in conjunction with Hero777, SANBS, KZN Transplant Sports Association and KZN Eyebank.

THE 5km Family Fun Run/Walk, hosted to create awareness around organ and tissue donation, was a great success as 435 people participated on the day.

The event took place on Saturday, June 4 and was held by the Organ Donor Foundation in conjunction with Hero777, South African National Blood Service (SANBS), KZN Transplant Sports Association and KZN Eyebank.

The supporters enjoyed the atmosphere and the lovely forest walk at Morewood Farm.

“We were delighted with the number of walkers/runners that participated on the day. We also had a really good sign-up rate of 69 registered donors, and at last count, the blood clinic had 17 pints of blood, which can save about 51 lives,” said Hero 777 volunteer Janine Magree.

She also thanked the hosts for being so accommodating and enthusiastic about the cause.
