Police arrest six suspects linked to Pinetown business robbery

Police also recovered two vehicles, and one of the vehicles was linked to numerous house robberies. 

POLICE arrested six of the eight men suspected of robbing a business in Hill Street, Pinetown, and holding the staff at gunpoint.

According to KZN police, the suspects were tracked to M-Section in KwaMashu.

It is alleged that the suspects stole cash and cellphones before they fled the scene.

Police responded swiftly and recovered two vehicles, and later, it was established that one of the vehicles was linked to numerous house robberies that have been reported recently, as well as an attempted murder.

“The second vehicle was hijacked in Berea area early this month. The police officers also recovered 46 cellphones,” said KZN police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo.

Police then proceeded to a house in J-Section. The house was searched, and police found various brands of watches valued at R70 000.

“Six suspects, aged between 18 and 43, were arrested and appeared before the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court,” said Ngcobo.

The suspects were remanded in custody. On Monday, they will be put through an identification parade.
