Oxford celebrates 10 years of success

The winners were given instant cash rewards ranging from R300 to R1 000 at randomly selected till points throughout the day.

ON May 24, 48 lucky buyers at Oxford Freshmarket Hillcrest won a share of R30 000 in a special Birthday Tuesday promotion to commemorate Oxford’s ten years in business.

“Economically, we recognise that the previous several years have been tremendously difficult for the communities we serve,” said Patrick Hyland, head of Oxford Marketing. “For the past 10 years, it has been our objective to provide exceptional quality and unbeatable value to our dedicated customers. As a result, we believed the immediate gratification of putting money back in your pocket today, to use for anything you choose, was a terrific way to reward the people who have supported us over the years,” he added.

Throughout the day, the ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ concept was extended by giving away 200 Oxford shopping hampers and egg trays to the general public.

Along with the cash prizes and hamper giveaways, Oxford Freshmarket Hillcrest is giving away R20 000 in shopping vouchers in-store and via its social media channels throughout May.

A strong focus on community and building lasting relationships with suppliers, staff, and shoppers has distinguished Oxford Freshmarket from competing national retailers over the years, according to owner Brett Latimer, who founded Oxford Freshmarket after selling the multi-store Cambridge operation he built and sold to Massmart between 2008 and 2010.

“Our success has been built on the foundation of the KZN community. The need to receive true value for their rand, in the shape of exceptional quality at a fair price, unites all shoppers in KZN, regardless of their economic level. And in these trying times, that is even more important. I believe that the fact that we’ve become the ‘go to’ store for so many people in the areas where our stores are currently located, regardless of their background, speaks to the effort and vision that the entire Oxford family has put forth in serving these needs,” he concluded.
