5 totally ‘tea-rrific’ health benefits of drinking tea

Tea has fantastic benefits for the body.

WHETHER it’s served as a hot beverage or as a chilled refreshment, tea has a way of evoking a sense of comfort in people. Indulged as a morning pick-me-up, an afternoon delight or as a drink to end the evening, tea can be enjoyed at any time of the day. Brewing a cup a day is not only great for your mood, it can also be largely beneficial for your physical health. Tea leaves have anti-inflammatory properties and carry vitamins and minerals that boost your immune system. Tea also contains antioxidants and compounds that aid the body in fighting off health issues and chronic illnesses.

Here is a list of the incredible health advantages of tea consumption:

Drinking tea provides the body with antioxidants

Antioxidants protect your cells against molecules in the body that may play a role in heart disease, cancer and other diseases.
White tea is loaded with antioxidants and contains less caffeine than other teas. Green tea also contains polyphenols, which have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Tea has less caffeine than coffee

Herbal tea blends have no caffeine, and caffeinated teas, such as black tea, contain half as much caffeine than traditional coffee. Green tea can help with increased alertness and focus and will give the brain a boost without leaving any negative effects on the nervous system.

Drinking tea reduces your risk of heart attacks and strokes

Consuming tea lowers the body’s blood pressure and cholesterol. A tea with an array of health benefits, that is native to South Africa, rooibos tea, can improve these heart-disease risk factors by reducing the body’s general blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

Drinking tea can help with diabetes

Tea can help to keep the body’s blood-sugar levels under control. High blood-sugar levels can bring about type 2 diabetes, and tea can prevent or regulate the chronic illness. Rooibos tea is rich in the antioxidant aspalathin, which balances blood-sugar levels in the body and reduces insulin resistance.

Drinking tea gives the immune system a boost

Drinking tea is highly beneficial for the body’s immune system. Tea is a rich source of antioxidants, and a great source of hydration. Many teas also have antiviral and antibacterial properties that can prevent the body from getting sick.
