Artists bridge gap between art and nature

The artists said they hope to connect residents with the beauty of nature through their colourful artwork.

NINE talented Durban graffiti artists joined force on Freedom Day to beautify and make Kloof more colourful.

Kloof resident and renowned artist, Giffy Duminy said there are many people who pass the bridge and they just wanted to uplift their spirits and put a smile on their faces.

“This is a great public structure and people can use it as an outdoor art space,” he said.

Duminy said most of the painting consists of the wildlife creatures that are found around the Kloof area. The artists were not limited, they had freedom to draw whatever they liked. One of the artists drew a tiger,” said Duminy.

“By this initiative, we hope residents can appreciate their surroundings and celebrate the local wildlife that live among us,” he said.

The Kloof Project’s Sandra Wickee sent a huge thank you to those residents who heeded their call for financial assistance to meet the spray paint costs for the painting of the murals.

“This special colourful corner of Kloof is going to be a wonderful tribute to the artists talent,” she said.
