Highway’s foundation continues with flood relief efforts

More than 100 people have benefitted from Robin Hood Foundation food relief programme.

THE Robin Hood Foundation (RHF) has collected and distributed 45 tons of food, two tons of water, 450 mattresses and blankets as well as clothes, tents, buckets, spades, mops, nappies and baby formula to the people who were affected by the recent KZN floods.

The foundation assisted people in Molweni, Umlazi, Amoati, Mariannhill, Pinetown, Hammarsdale, Northdene, Phoenix, Verulam, Chatsworth, Stockville and has extended its relief programme as far up as Empangeni and down the coast to Umkomaas.

They also distributed items to 11 informal settlements.

RHF coordinator, Jackie Psannis said they have worked closely with other NPO’s and long-standing beneficiaries who live in these areas in order to maintain their mandate to get every single item directly into the hands of the needy.

“More than 4 150 bags filled with food, clothing and blankets were distributed to more than 100 beneficiaries.

“In true Robin Hood style we endeavoured to help as many people as possible and have been intentionally generous. Every person, bike, car, vehicle or truck that came to collect left loaded with as much food and goods as we could possibly give them,” said Psannis.

She appealed for the community’s support as they are planning further relief initiatives.
