Kloof Project helps flood-stricken Stockville

Members of The Kloof Project rallied together to help the Stockville Community by supplying food and clothing to the flood stricken area.

THE Kloof Project is a collection of Kloof residents who donate their time and resources to help care for the community. They are concerned about the state of their neighbourhood and the lack of maintenance provided by the local government. Donations from local businesses and individuals fund all of their projects to keep their community beautiful.

Bev Fowles who is in charge of the recycling portfolio on the committee started this initiative after being notified that some people in the Stockville area, were severely impacted by the flood. Sandra Wickee the secretary of The Kloof Project said, Fowles contacted her local Pick n Pay store in Kloof, who were more than happy to assist.

Along with Pick n Pay Kloof’s donations, Fowles set up a trolley explaining the initiative and encouraged shoppers to donate whatever they could to the project.

Chanel Whalley, manager of Pick n Pay Kloof said, “Pick n Pay is more than happy to assist in this amazing project.”

In total Fowles, managed to fill eight trollies with supplies and transported it to the Stockville area. She then passed it onto a community activist in the Stockville area, Protus Mlambo who organised for 20 community members to distribute the items to the greater community.

“My community sends a heartfelt thank you to the Kloof community,” said a grateful Mlambo.
