Embocraft showcases centre’s variety at relaunch

Embocraft is planning to add vegetable gardening and poultry care to their curriculum.

EMBOCRAFT in Botha’s Hill recently celebrated a relaunch, showcasing the amazing work created by students on the sewing, welding, carpentry, fabric painting and beading courses.

Embocraft was started by Brenda Locke in 1986 after seeing the poverty and unemployment in the community surrounding her in the Valley of 1000 Hills.

Locke decided that she was going to do something about it. She started teaching a few ladies how to sew at her house before moving to the premises next to Kearsney College and the place has grown and prospered.

“We aim to train people in order that they can earn a living with their new skills. In addition, we showcase some of their work for sale in our shop,” said a proud Embocraft coordinator, Anthea Jansen.

“We are very happy to take on specific work for corporate gifts of all kinds, enabling our students and staff to earn income. Our prices are very competitive, and quality guaranteed,” she added.

Embocraft is planning to add vegetable gardening and poultry care to their curriculum in the near future.

“Local businesses are offering their expertise to train our students. Courses fees are kept very low to make them affordable to everyone,” said Jansen.
