WATCH: Magician and mentalist performs tricks in KZN

Peel also featured on the Home Channel's “Magic Caught on Camera” where he featured alongside some of the top magicians and mentalists in the entire world.

MULTI-AWARD-WINNING magician and illusionist, Brendon Peel, will perform at the Hilton Arts Festival on Thursday, March 24.

Peel entered the world of magic at the age of 15, performing part-time on weekends and school holidays to patrons at the local Spur back home in Port Elizabeth.

“My love for magic started when I was about 10. I would do a few tricks in front of close family and friends. All my friends were getting jobs so my mom thought doing some magic at the restaurant would be suitable for me. I only earned tips,” said Peel.

He became popular with the regulars and started to build a clientele from there. It also motivated him to learn new tricks as he didn’t want to perform the same tricks, especially to the regulars.

“From there I started performing at parties and events and eventually landed corporate jobs as well,” said the magician and mentalist.

In between all the magic, he also completed his masters in business management and is also a journalism and drama major, both qualifications which he obtained through the University of Rhodes.

Peel currently lives in Johannesburg and travels all over the world, doing what he does best – spreading the magic.

“I’ve entertained in front of audiences all over South Africa as well as in Europe. It’s what I love doing,” he said.

Peel recently received a standing ovation on the set on Romania’s Got Talent and amazed judges alongside his escape stage partner Li Lau.

Their audition consisted of a combination of escapology and mentalism.

While Li sat cuffed to a chair, trying to pick locks that will set him free, Brendon has to solve a bunch of Rubik’s cubes and then use them to add weight to a scale which, if tipped in the wrong direction, will set off the crossbow and send it flying directly at his Li’s head.

This amazing feat saw Britain’s Got Talent judges Simon Cowell and David Walliams visibly wowed, rising from their seats to applaud the SA duo.

The performance gained them so much attention they were given the opportunity to perform on Romania’s Got Talent, where they did not disappoint.

“It’s honestly such a blessing to have our work spread out across the world. It has always been a dream of mine to spread my magic to all corners of the globe and doing my work across various places on major TV platforms in the world is something that means everything to me and I will keep pushing to spread the magic even more, “he said.
