Glass found in McCain frozen beans and stir fry

McCain Foods is recalling two items following news that “foreign material” was discovered in certain packets.

McCain Foods South Africa has announced the voluntary recall of a small batch of frozen sliced green beans and frozen French stir fry mix. In a statement on their website, the frozen food giant said the batch may contain glass pieces.

McCain added that to address the incident they have put stringent safeguards in place, including a formal block across our cold chain and related networks.

“All potential impacted stock has been removed from retail shelves,” McCain said.

Customers in the food service industry can return damaged products to their distributors for a credit notice.

“Retailers and foodservice clients have been formally notified of existing return processes, according to the worldwide frozen food manufacturer. If the data matches those in the table above, the product should be returned to the retailer where it was purchased. Request to talk to the store manager, who will record your information. McCain will then send you a replacement product voucher,” they said.
