The Virtual Parents’ Day meeting is for parents and guardians of registered first-year students.

THE University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) is calling on all parents and guardians of registered first-year students, to join a Virtual Parents’ Day meeting on Saturday, February 5.

UKZN spokesperson, Normah Zondo, said this session will provide parents and guardians with an opportunity to engage with the academic and support staff of the university, and raise any questions they may have regarding teaching and learning in 2022.

According to Zondo, the university received more than 255 000 applications for admission from 112 000 students as some had applied for more than one academic programme.

“There are approximately 10 000 first-year places available. The most popular courses applied for by prospective students include Bachelor of Education, MBChB and Bachelor of Laws. Places in these programmes are highly contested, and admission numbers are generally very limited,” she said.

Zondo added that the university will continue with online teaching and learning until further notice. Only practical and clinical training will be carried out face to face.

All registration information is available on the www.ukzn.ac.za. A chatbot is available to assist. Students requiring further information can call the call centre on 031 260 2212.
