Three arrested in Umlazi for New Germany house robbery

Two of the suspects are still at large.

THREE suspects, aged between 28 and 36, who were wanted for New Germany house robbery, were arrested in Umlazi last week.

The Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Captain Bongumusa Manqele, said it is alleged the victim, aged 28, was off-loading groceries from her vehicle on Gilbert Drive in New Germany when she saw a white Hyundai vehicle parked at the gate.

“Five suspects got out off the vehicle and demanded the victim open the gate. She refused. The suspects allegedly forced the gate open and went inside the house where they stole two television sets, a handbag, car keys and a pair of shoes before fleeing the scene,” said Manqele.

According to Manqele, two of the suspects are known to the victim and a case of house robbery was registered at the Pinetown Police Station.

“The suspects were traced and arrested in Umlazi and appeared at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, January 13,” added Manqele.
