Elderly man shot multiple times in Westville

Westville police are investigating a case of attempted murder.

A 60-YEAR-OLD man is fighting for his life in hospital after he was shot in Westville.

Emer-G-Med’s Kyle van Reenen said emergency services responded to a shooting incident in Westville Road.

“On arrival, a man, approximately 60 years of age, was found with multiple gunshot wounds.

“He was treated and stabilised on scene before he was transported to a nearby hospital,” said Van Reenen.

Westville SAPS communications officer, Captain Elizabeth Squires confirmed the incident and said a case of attempted murder has been opened at the station.

“The man was leaving his work place when three armed men fired at him. The victim managed to drive off and lost control of his vehicle in Westville Road. The motive is unknown at this stage,” reported Squires.
