Residents help spruce up Westville

The small group of residents picked up about 15 bags of litter.

A HANDFUL of Westville residents joined in on a clean-up at the intersection of St James Road and Kings Road recently.

Liesel Muhl of Keep Westville Beautiful said they decided to clean the spot where the nativity scene was to be erected.

“It was nice to see young people doing their part to beautify the community,” she said.

The group picked up about 15 bags of litter.

“As Keep Westville Beautiful, we would like to encourage the community to please make use of the designated rubbish collection days by Durban Solid Waste, and to make use of the provided dumps for dumping of garden refuse and building rubble,” said Muhl.

She also encouraged community members to take pictures of or take down the number plates of individuals seen dumping illegally.

“This way we can ensure that cases are opened and these individuals are fined. We wish everyone a merry Christmas and a clean and beautiful start to the New Year,” said Muhl.
