South Africa, rejoice in who we are with #ThisIsUs

December presents a time for reflection – to look back at what was and to prepare to enter the new year with purpose.

2021 was filled with Covid ups and downs, vaccine narratives and anxiety about unrest and elections. Yet, despite these enormous challenges, South Africans are showing their grit and can-do attitude. This is what the #ThisIsUs movement is all about – encouraging people to embrace the spirit and attitude that enable South Africans to triumph over adversity. As we reflect on the past year, it is evident that numerous everyday actions keep the hope of a bright tomorrow alive, from those community members who helped clean up their towns after the riots, to the vaccination ambassadors and the people who use social media platforms to inspire, motivate and get us to laugh, even in the darkest of times. Corporates, NGOs, community organisations, influencers, the media and ordinary South Africans show their resilience on a daily basis. In just a short period of time, the #ThisIsUs initiative reached a large portion of the country’s population – a diversity of people who are not afraid to put in the hard work and effort to exist in unity, who see the good in this beautiful nation of ours, and who are known for their wide smiles and natural happiness. #ThisIsUs is a simple, open-source, non-branded shared initiative that drives sustained positive action. CliffCentral.com has committed to using its platform to further spread kindness, positivity and hope to fellow South Africans, through podcasts with guests who actively participate in the healing of South Africa. South Africans who are yet to join the #ThisIsNotUs movement are urged to join us – and invite others to do so – as we say no to the violence, hatred and chaos. Use #ThisIsNotUs to show that ugliness, hatred and fear are not who we are as South Africans. Get behind the growing number of communities and brave individuals who are stepping up to make a difference, who are reaching out and getting involved in a positive way to promote all that is good. We want you to share your story of hope, reconciliation, and unity with #ThisIsUs, to show the world who we are. Visit This Is Us and like their Facebook page for more information. Remember to share your positivity and love for South Africa with #ThisIsUs on social media to showcase what makes us, us.
