Moseley Park thieves nabbed with stolen copper worth R600 000

The five suspects are expected to appear at the Pinetown Magistrate's Court today, Wednesday, October 27.

DURBAN police arrested five suspects found in possession of rolls and bags of copper cables that have a street value of approximately R600 000.
 
The suspects were arrested on Monday, October 25 in Moseley Park by Hawks members from the Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation team and the Durban Metro Police.
 
 
Hawks spokesperson, Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo said police were alerted to suspects stripping copper cables in Moseley Park and raced to the scene.
 
“The copper cables were positively identified by eThekwini Municipality officials. The five suspects, aged between 22 and 39, were arrested and charged for possession of property suspected to be stolen, as well as damage to essential infrastructure,” said Mhlongo.
 
The suspects will appear at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today.
