Pre-school receives colourful donation from Durban Chic Mamas

The 12m converted container classroom at Umzamo Creche will provide a bigger and safer environment for the children to learn in.

THE Chic Mamas Do Care Durban team upgraded the Umzamo Day Care Centre with the proceeds generated through the sale of quality, pre-loved clothing at their boutique style shop in Westville.

The team of enthusiastic women, who believe in the importance of early childhood development (ECD), purchased a 12m converted container classroom to replace a dilapidated wooden cabin.

Chic Mamas Durban team coordinator, Jenny Du Bois said the new classroom provided a bigger and safer environment for the children to learn in. The addition of awnings and a well-planned outside play area has ensured the children have all-weather outdoor fun while they develop key motor skills.

Last week, a few of the Chic Mamas team put the finishing touches to a joyful mural that was sponsored by Capitec Bank.

Westville shop manager, Natalie Maccallum encouraged the Highway community to enjoy a unique Chic Mamas shopping experience at the boutique.

Du Bois conveyed the team’s gratitude to all of their supporters and appealed to the Highway community to donate quality, pre-loved clothing.

“The Chic Mamas team has a number of significant projects planned going forward and the donation of clothing assists us in making a difference in many communities,” she said.

The store is situated at 2 Cedar Road, Westville and is open from Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 till 16:00, and on Saturdays, from 10:00 to 13:00.
