Man arrested with R200 000 worth of mandrax tablets

Police also seized a licensed firearm and 24 rounds of ammunition.

THE Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit arrested a 51-year-old man in Mariannheights this morning (Wednesday, October 6). He was was found the be in possession of more than R200 000 worth of Mandrax tablets.

According to KZN police spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala, the team went to a house in Arries Road with a search warrant.

“Upon searching the premises, police recovered 4 000 Mandrax tablets to the estimated value of R240 000. Police also found R15 000 cash,” said Gwala.

She added that a licensed firearm, with 24 rounds of ammunition, was also seized by police. The suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs.

“He is appearing in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today,” said Gwala
