Help Pinetown resident spread cheer among elderly

Bronwin Pitt appeals for the public's support to fill 170 bags with toiletries for senior citizens.

PINETOWN resident, Bronwin Pitt, is at it again this year, adding some sweetness to the lives of elderly people.

Pitt has been filling jars with sweets for the past two years. Last year, the jars were distributed to the Elders Voice, an old age home in Montclair.

“This year, I am collecting toiletries but I will add a sweet or two,” she said.

Pitt said senior citizens are close to her heart and are always appreciative. “Last year and this year they have spent less time with friends and families due to the restrictions. I believe they deserve to be treated well with respect and spoiled,” she added.

The Pinetown resident spends her weekends volunteering at the Social Cause Agency in Pinetown.

“I also help collect food for The Elders Voice and deliver it to them. We have a WhatsApp group where we remind people to donate their items for the month. I then take all the collected items to the main house in Montclair.

“During the unrest, I took three full loads down to them as well,” said Pitt, whose long term goal is to continue helping where she can.
