3 puppies found covered in engine oil

Two of the puppies are reported to have eye infections and mange.

THE Animal Antics Pet Rescue, based in Botha’s Hill, created a lifeline for three puppies found in the Chatsworth area.

Sam De Wet, one of the founder members of the NPC, said the three puppies were in a ‘shocking condition’ as two of them had mange, two were reported to have eye infections and all three were covered in engine oil.

“Other people were wanting to kill the puppies. We couldn’t leave them to be killed. They are small and really just need love. They will then be needing a vet ASAP,” said De Wet.

De Wet said the white and black puppies both have mange and were given a medical bath and a blow dry. The white puppy has an ulcerated cornea and is on a course of antibiotics. The black one also had an elevated temperature.

“The little white one will probably need surgery on his eyelids as he seems to have inverted eyelashes, but we will wait and see if it is that, or if it is just from the very bad eye infection,” said De Wet.
