3 men nabbed with illegal firearms, Sassa cards and drugs in Klaarwater

Police officers, who were conducting an operation, seized two pistols with 66 rounds of ammunition, Sassa cards as well as capsules of heroin.

THREE men, who were found in possession of illegal firearms, Sassa cards and drugs in Klaarwater, Mariannhill, were remanded in custody until August 26.

The three suspects, aged between 26 and 51, were arrested on Friday, August 20 during an intelligence driven operation which was conducted in Klaarwater and surrounding areas.

KZN police spokesperson, Capt Nqobile Gwala said police were following up on information about suspects who were in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.

“The team proceeded to Umkhomazi Street in Klaarwater where they seized two pistols with 66 rounds of ammunition, Sassa cards as well as capsules of heroin,” said Gwala.

They appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on August 20. They were remanded in custody until August 26.
