Elderly woman recounts her attack on Women’s Day

The woman said she fought off her assailant for about 25 minutes.

AN elderly woman is still reeling after she was assaulted in her home in Waterfall on Women’s Day.

The founder of the non-profit company (NPC), Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in Waterfall, alleges she has had two house break-ins, one assault and eight robberies, nine of these incidents are said to have taken place in the past seven days.

In the most recent incident, the founder of the NPC said it was about 06.15 when she stepped outside, and was on her way to feed the cats in her care, when a man approached her.

In her report, she stated she was pushed back inside her home and the man locked the door behind them. He is believed to have attacked her with a screwdriver and, during the fight, she was able to gain possession of the weapon.

She retaliated and stabbed her attacker in the leg. A security guard arrived on scene and the man was arrested.

A case was opened at the local police station.
