Highbury community gives back

The food was collected for one of the school's beneficiaries, Flame Lily Retirement Village.

HIGHBURY Preparatory Grade 3 boys, their families and the Hillcrest community spent Saturday, July 17 collecting food for one of the beneficiaries.

“We have always supported Flame Lily Retirement Village over the years, but it has been a tremendous honour to be able to help them in their real hour of need as they had to close down their kitchen as they did not have sufficient food supplies to feed their residents,” said Grade 3 educator, Taryn Wilson.

She said this was a great opportunity for the Highbury boys to be involved in giving back, “something that is at the heart of our Highbury values and connected beautifully with Mandela Day that was celebrated on Sunday, 18 July,” said Wilson.

All the food supplies donated were used in the retirement village kitchen and distributed among the residents.

“Thank you to our boys, the families and Hillcrest community for coming together and making this possible,” added Wilson.
