Westville water leak a concern

The family has been reporting the leak for the past three months.

A WESTVILLE yard is slowly being damaged due to the water that’s seeping through it.

The water, which has been flowing for three months, is reported to be from a mainline pipe in the corner of Marlowe Avenue and Roger Sishi Road.

According to Chelsea Laskey, her family had this problem before and it was fixed immediately. “We were very impressed with the quick response.”

“We have been reporting the recent leak for the past three months. We are worried that the wall will collapse as the water is coming through it, our parking has turned into clay.

She said plumbers have come out but they always say they will escalate the matter as the leak is coming from the mainline.

Laskey said apart from the fact that their property is being damaged, they are also worried about the amount of water being wasted.

“There are so many people who struggle for water,” she said.

Following an interview with the Highway Mail, Laskey said other plumbers went to the site, but the problem remains unresolved.

“The water is not pouring constantly, but our yard is still very wet,” she said.

Attempts to obtain a comment from eThekwini Municipality proved futile at the time of going to print.
