Man arrested with 200 rounds of ammunition and drugs on M13

The man, who is expected to appear in court today, July 26, was also charged under the Disaster Management Act for not adhering to the curfew regulations.

A 26-YEAR-OLD man, who was arrested on the M13, was found in possession of a firearm, 200 rounds of ammunition and drugs.

KZN police spokesperson, Col Thembeka Mbele said Westville SAPS officers were patrolling the area when they spotted the man driving recklessly.

“Upon stopping and searching the vehicle, a firearm, 200 rounds of ammunition and drugs were  found in the vehicle. The man was immediately arrested and taken to the Westville police station for processing,” said Mbele.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court, today, Monday, July 26.He faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as possession/dealing in drugs.

“He was further charged under the Disaster Management Act for failing to be confined after curfew,” added Mbele.
