HILLCREST SAPS caught a 34-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a house robbery in KwaNgcolosi this morning.
According to the victim, two armed suspects entered his home and, at gunpoint, demanded cash.
“The suspects assaulted and stabbed the victim. They stole cash, cellphones, a TV, clothes and other belongings before fleeing the scene in the victim’s vehicle,” said the spokesman for KZN SAPS, Colonel Thembeka Mbele.
While en route to the location of the robbery, which occurred at about 02:30am, Hillcrest SAPS gave chase when the vehicle stolen during the incident was spotted.

“Upon seeing the police officers, the suspects sped off. Following a shoot-out, the suspect’s vehicle overturned. Two suspects emerged from the vehicle and fled into nearby bushes while shooting at police officers. One of the suspects was injured and was placed under arrest,” said Mbele.
He was found in possession of a pistol with six rounds of ammunition. He was taken to hospital where he remains under police guard. The 34-year-old suspect will appear in court soon on charges of house robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
