Support charity projects this Mandela Month

People can help give back from the comfort and safety of their own home by clearing unwanted, pre-loved items and donate it to the Robin Hood Foundation.

WHILE gatherings may be prohibited during level 4, residents can still help make a difference from the safety of their homes.

This is according to founder of the Robin Hood Foundation, Cindy Norcott, who said they have dedicated July to Mandela Month.

Norcott said people can help give back from the comfort and safety of their own home by clearing unwanted, pre-loved clothes, shoes, accessories, kitchen accessories, linen and toys (in good condition) and donating 67 items to Robin Hood.

“If you are a mother with baby clothes, our Love the Babies division is in desperate need of baby clothes for babies from newborn to 18 months,” she said.

For people who would love to physically get involved or get their family or staff involved, the foundation will be hosting their popular Sarmie Army at Stokers Arms, Old Main Road, Kloof on the mornings of July 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 from 8:30 until 10:30.

“At the Sarmie Army, we make thousands of fresh sandwiches which immediately get taken to feeding schemes and schools. Stick around afterwards for a R67 meal at Stokers Arms Kloof after your sarmie making,” said Norcott.

There is also an option of donating R67 to the foundation. To make their initiative exciting, the organisation also has 15 prizes to give away.

“On July 31, everyone who has donated R67 or more during the month of July, will go into a draw to win one of the lucky draw prizes.

“When you make your donation, please send us your name and email address and ‘Mandela’ as a reference. All funds raised in July will go towards making up food parcels for needy families and communities that have been impacted by the pandemic,” added Norcott.
