Westmead worker pulled into metal cutting machine

Hydraulic tools were needed to help free the worker trapped in the machine.

A MAN, working at a warehouse in Westmead, is believed to have been pulled into an industrial metal cutting machine. Paramedics and rescue technicians were called in to help the trapped and injured worker.

This afternoon, Netcare 911 paramedics rushed to the scene and found the man’s legs trapped in the machine.

“A complete shut down and lockout procedure was initiated to allow Netcare 911 paramedics to treat the patient while a Netcare 911 rescue technician used hydraulic tools to free the entrapped man,” said Netcare 911’s Shawn Herbst.

Once he was freed and stabilised, he was taken to a nearby hospital.
