Valley Trust begins winter warmth drive

During its recent fundraiser event, The Valley Trust raised much-needed funds for its care packs project.

AT its recent breakfast fundraiser at the Millflour Baking Co. in Hillcrest, the Valley Trust (TVT) raised more than R40 000 to purchase care pack for children in need.

The event was in support of TVT’s Khula Kahle Mntwana Project that benefits more than 1 000 young children in the rural Valley of 1 000 Hills.

All 60 tickets to the event were sold and a raffle draw held on the day was well supported. Each of the care packs contain toys, books, warm winter clothes and other items needed by the children.

The keynote address was delivered by Shane Ward, a recognised authority on the subject of corporate citizenship and his consultancy, IDthree, helps business leaders harness the power of trust as a basis for business success. He delivered a powerful message about ‘Good Corporate Citizenship in Uncertain Times’.

“On behalf of TVT, I wish thank Shane for giving of his time. A special thank you goes to Fig Trees Farm and Millflour Baking Co. who sponsored the incredible venue and hearty breakfast,” she said. “Our deepest gratitude goes to National Edging for the generous cash donation in lieu of attendance. We would also like to thank Olivetti, 4X4 Charity Drive and Thrivenow for booking tables of 10.”

Other sponsors included Food Lover’s Market, Talloula, Strands Hair by Design, Mayfair Café, Zurikaa, Shawshack, ActionCOACH Ignite, Richdens SPAR, Umgeni Steam Railway, Phezulu Safari Park, AmmaZulu Garden and Sculpture Precinct and 1000 Hills Tourism.

The drive for toys and winter clothes for children continues and donations can be dropped off at The Valley Trust in Botha’s Hill or at the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust in Hillcrest or at We Friends Pre-school in Morningside.
