Westville learners unite to fight litter issue

Westville Junior Primary School challenged other schools in the area to assist keep Westville beautiful.

WESTVILLE Junior Primary recently donned their ‘civvies’ for a good cause.

Acting principal of the school, Sharon Jenkins encouraged learners to make a donation to help address the litter problem in the Westville area.

Jenkins mentioned she wanted the learners to support local charities and organisations which directly benefited the Westville community, as most of the learners reside in the area.

The school collected a whopping R3581.50 to support this initiative.

“One such cause is the Keep Westville Beautiful NPC, who are on a mission to get Westville clean. The donated money will be used to buy litter bins which will be placed in high traffic areas where litter is a problem.

“Already one can see how the bins that have been placed are being utilised. We can all benefit from a beautiful and clean Westville. Not only does it help from an aesthetic point, it also brings the benefit of upping house prices for residents as Westville continues to be a sought after community to live in,” she said.

Westville Junior Primary Scholars are challenging other Westville Schools to jump on the band wagon and get their schools on the bin map.

Residents can get involved by sponsoring a bin for a year.
