Woman (50) arrested for drug possession in Mariannhill

The woman was also found in possession of six Sassa cards.

A WOMAN, who was arrested by the Provincial Organised Crime Unit for the possession of drugs and stolen property as well as the contravention of both the National Credit Regulation Act and the Home Affairs Act, will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today.

Police officers executed a search warrant at the Lobelia Road home in Mariannhill yesterday morning. The team stormed the premises and a search was conducted. A 50-year-old woman was found hiding drugs in a freezer and 401 blue and white heroin capsules and 61 pieces of crack cocaine were confiscated.

During the search the team also found six Sassa cards, nine identity documents as well as various bank cards. The same team then headed to Nazareth and conducted a search at a tuck-shop being run from a container.

Police found nine mandrax tablets, 69 heroin capsules, 40 pieces of rock cocaine, 123 boxes of Stilpane syrup, 22 boxes of cough syrup and 200 Xanax tablets. A 30-year-old man was arrested for the possession of drugs and for contravening the Medical Control Act.

He will also appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today.
