7 stolen vehicles recovered in various Durban areas

During the operation. a Mariannhill man was arrested with possession of illegal firearm with ammunition.

A 43-YEAR-OLD Mariannhill man is expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court after he was found in possession of illegal firearm with two rounds of ammunition yesterday, Wednesday, 12 May.

The man was arrested in Oakland, Mariannhill during an operation by The Provincial Trio and Vehicle Task Team together with other role-players.

KZN police spokesperson, Col Thembeka Mbele said the same team also recovered a total of seven stolen vehicles.

“The vehicles were recovered in different areas such as Inanda, Ngonyameni, Newlands and were stolen and some hijacked in different areas in Durban.”

Mbele reported that one of the recovered vehicle was used during the business robbery that was committed at Bluff on 11 May 2021.

“It is alleged that three unknown men entered the business premises in Bluff and robbed the staff of three laptops and cash at gunpoint before fleeing the scene,” explained Mbele.            

All the suspects involved are still being sought by police.
