Kloof Round Table makes children’s lives ‘bedder’

Two Round Table clubs in the Durban area teamed up to make a significant change in the lives of the children at Tholuthando Children's Home.

TO celebrate Freedom Day, the Kloof Round Table, in partnership with Durban Round Table, donated 30 much-needed beds to the Tholuthando Children’s Home.

“Freedom Day is not just about the freedom of the individual, but the freedoms of all those around us. Therefore, it is vital we help those less fortunate whenever we can and attempt to lessen the burdens they must face on a daily basis,” said the Kloof Round Table’s chairman, Matthew Hayes.

One of the most pressing matters faced by the children’s home was a lack of beds for all of the children in its care and because of this, many of the children were forced to share single mattresses.

“Now, fortunately, we can proudly say that this is no longer the case. We sometimes take for granted what a privilege it is to have a bed to call your own, a personal freedom that these children may now finally come to realise,” said Hayes.

Tholuthando Children’s Home is based in the Embo Community and is a safe space for more than 50 children between the ages of 12 months to 18 years old.

“Tholuthando Children’s Home is a place that is very dear to our hearts and they rely solely on donations from their local community, businesses and charities. Any and all help is always appreciated,” said Hayes.
