WATCH: Woodland Doormouse released in Hillcrest after stint at CROW
The Woodland Doormouse was dropped off at CROW with a concussion.

AFTER a short rehabilitation stint at CROW, a Woodland Dormouse was recently released back into the wild in a greenbelt in Hillcrest.
Woodland Doormice are endemic to South Africa and this one was dropped off at the local non-profit organisation with a concussion and what was believed to be head trauma.
According to the organisation’s Alexandra Kögl, the doormouse was medicated to reduce the swelling of its brain and showed improvement after just two days.
“He was kept on heat and syringe fed for the rest of the week, while the clinic nurses monitored him,” she said.
When he was diagnosed to be in good enough shape for release, the team took him to a greenbelt in Hillcrest.
“When clinic nurse, Leigh, opened his basket and placed the blanket he was hiding in on the grass, he immediately scurried out and sat on the edge of the blanket for a few seconds, taking in all the familiar smells and sounds of home before hurrying off into the undergrowth,” said Kögl.
