Pitbull takes on Mozambique Spitting Cobra

Once caught, the Mozambique Spitting Cobra was released back into the wild.

AFTER a short reprieve, afforded by the recent cold spell, Highway’s snake catcher, Nick Evans was called out to retrieve a Mozambique Spitting Cobra from Shallcross.

Evans received the call while working on an as-yet, undisclosed research project. He noted the homeowners, who contacted him, said their Pitbull had tried to attack the snake.

“The little yearling cobra was fine. The dog, however, got venom in the left eye and wasn’t chuffed with life. The owners did the right thing and took the dog to the vet for treatment,” said Evans.

The snake was released soon after in an area away from people.
