KwaNdengezi kidnapper jailed for 12 years

The victim was assaulted, forced into the boot of his car and then held captive in a house for hours before he escaped.

THE 18-year-old Ayanda ‘Scara’ Zaca (18) appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court recently and was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for carjacking and kidnapping and was declared unsafe to possess a firearm.

On 28 October last year, at about 2.30am, a 30-year-old man was driving along Coffee Farm in KwaNdengezi when armed men accosted him.

He was assaulted and forced into the back of the vehicle at gunpoint.

They took him to the Mpumalanga area where he was held captive in a house. The victim escaped and called his mother who reported the matter to the police.

An intensive investigation by KwaNdengezi detectives led to the arrest of the accused. Zaca made several court appearances until he was convicted and sentenced,” said KZN SAPS spokesman, captain Nqobile Gwala.
