In the video captured at Mount Vernon in Hillary, the suspects are seen accosting the driver and passenger before putting one of them in the boot of their vehicle.

Blue Security operations director, Brian Jackson said the hijackers questioned the driver about a tracking device and upon realising there was one, they let the occupants go and left the vehicle.

In both instances, the suspects jam the vehicle by parking behind the unsuspecting drivers who arrive at a gate and wait for it to open.

Jackson said the first recorded incident took place in Sydenham.

“A woman and her 18-year-old son arrived home, pulled into their driveway and then saw the Mercedes pull up behind them. A relative inside the property witnessed what was going on and pressed the panic button to alert Blue Security Armed Response.

“The alarm caused the suspects to flee. However, they took cellphones and the home gate remote,” he said.

In the third incident of attempted hijacking,  a victim driving a white Ford Ranger was approached by three men in a white Golf 6 GTI.

No major injuries were reported.
