A KWADABEKA mother will forever be haunted by the gruesome discovery of her daughter’s mutilated body that was found wrapped in two black refuse bags and dumped on the side of the road.
“I will never be the same, I am not coping, I just wish to die,” said Nokuthula Msomi, mother of slain Nkosingphile Msomi.

Nkosingphile, fondly known as Kinati, was buried on Saturday following the discovery of her body on Thursday morning.
“How can someone be so cruel? The person who did this had to murder her and cut her into pieces like a piece of meat,” sobbed the deceased’s mother.
The family said Nkosingphile was last seen on Saturday, 27 March.
“She stayed with her partner. On Saturday she came and did some laundry for me and that was the last time I saw her alive,” said the distraught mom.
Nkosingphile’s older brother, Manqoba Mazibuko, who was the first family member on the scene, said they suspected that something bad might have happened to her after not hearing from her.

“On Wednesday, community members protested outside the police station to urge police to look for her. A person suspected of being involved in her disappearance was detained for a few hours and then released,” he said.
“On Thursday morning, I received a call from a friend informing me about a body that was dumped in Khululeka Drive. When I got there, I didn’t have to unwrap the plastics, I just saw the feet and knew that it was her,” said a devastated Mazibuko.
We want justice to prevail
“The picture of her body in pieces will take a very long time be erased. We are like walking zombies, no one needs to go through what this family has witnessed.
“It pains us, we are not violent people, all we want now is for justice to prevail. We are slowly losing faith in KwaDabeka police. We just need closure,” said Mazibuko.
DA West Durban Constituency chairperson, Mzamo Billy said they were shocked by the brutal and senseless killing of this young woman.
Billy said the growing number of murders in the KwaDabeka precinct is extremely concerning.
“KwaDabeka has had an increase in murders over the last few years. According to the 2018/19 crime statistics, KwaDabeka was among the top 30 police stations that recorded the highest number of murder cases with 95 cases. In the third quarter of 2020/21 KwaDabeka recorded 27 murders cases between October and December 2020/21.

“We therefore call upon for law enforcement authorities to find the culprit and make an urgent arrest so that the family can get closure. We trust that the perpetrator/s of this vicious act will be swiftly brought to book and that justice will be served,” said Billy.
He conveyed his deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.
KZN police spokesperson, Col Thembeka Mbele said police are investigating the murder case.
“No one has been arrested as yet, police are still gathering evidence. We can not just arrest someone based on rumours,” she said.
