KwaDabeka NPO grateful for school shoe donation

About 38 pairs of school shoes were donated to Enhlanhleni Isibani Sezwe and distributed to the NPOs beneficiaries.

AT the beginning of each year, Enhlanhleni Isibani Sezwe, an NPO in KwaDabeka, hands out uniforms to disadvantaged children.

With the country facing a pandemic, the NPO was grateful for the donation of school shoes from various individuals after sending out a request for help.

About 38 pairs of school shoes were donated to the organisation and distributed to the children who are the NPO’s beneficiaries.

The NPO was started by Pastor Alfred Ntshangase in 2005 after witnessing an increase in the number of orphans as well as abandoned and abused children in his Sunday school.

The organisation’s aim was to assist vulnerable families. Their first project was a soup kitchen where they fed underprivileged learners, children and adults who are on medication.

Since then, the NPO has grown. They now provide home-based care services for sick people and support for their families.

“Our caregivers do home visits where they bath, cook and clean for sick people. From the day we started, there has been so many changes and an increase in demand for assistance.

“People are faced with many challenges. Most people are unemployed and poverty stricken,” said Ntshangase.

As an NPO, Ntshangase said they rely on donations to keep their doors open and sometimes it gets difficult as they run out of food.

Other programmes include teaching people how to make crafts so they are able to generate an income for the centre and for their families.

“We also provide food parcels for the disadvantaged families and child-headed homes. We have 200 children who benefit from the uniform handover and we appeal to residents or companies that can donate more school shoes for the children,” added Ntshangase.

With the number of dependents increasing each day, Ntshangase appealed for food for their soup kitchen or clothing.
