Find hidden treasure at Westville charity shop

People can find various pre-loved items in good condition, they range from clothing, books, toys, linen, appliances, jewellery, paintings and more.

HELPING people in need was the inspiration behind the opening of Hidden Treasure, a charity shop at Salamanca Centre in Westville.

Hidden Treasure is a charity shop that sells previously loved goods in aid of community development both locally and around the world as it forms part of a national chain of charity shops which were started through the Baptist Women’s Department.

“The shop sells almost everything for everyone. All items here are donated. We have a team of dedicated and friendly volunteers and all items are sold on bargain prices,” said the charity shop overseer, Rona Austwick.

Proceeds of their sale supports missions from the Westville Baptist Church and CAST (Church Alliance for Social Transformation)

At the shop, people can get previously loved good, everything from furniture, antiques, clothing, books, toys, jewellery, appliances, kitchen items and much more.

One of the volunteers, Victoria Menzies said she was proud to be associated with the charity shop.

“I love interacting with people, coming here fulfills me as I know I’m making a difference and the money we make here goes towards helping people in need,” she said.

Another volunteer, Ellen Brown said working at Hidden Treasure was rewarding.

“The ladies I work with are wonderful and the atmosphere is great, people can definitely visit the shop and they will be warmly welcomed,” she said.
